July 2025
Over the weekend Amanda, one of our KTPT Athletes competed at Taupo's First 3 Lift Powerlifting competition, hosted by Waikato/Bay of Plenty Powerlifting Club.
Amanda had a great day going 8/9 and hitting PB's in ALL her lifts, qualifying her for Open Nationals in September, which will be held in Invercargill.
Amanda ended with a 155kg Squat, 82.5kg Bench and a HUGE 180kg Deadlift!
Giving her a 417.5kg Total.
Impressive work Amanda!
She will now be head down in prep for Open Nationals in 9 weeks time.

On July 26th Katie hit the platform for the first time at Souther Powerlifting Club & Novice competition.
She had an amazing day going 9/9 and 27 white lights! Hitting a new Personal Best on her Deadlift.
Katies ended her day with a 75kg Squat, 42.5kg Bench and 110kg Deadlift with more left in the tank.
I have been coaching Katie online for the past 16 weeks in preparation for this competition. In that time she has improved her technique in all her lifts bringing them up to a beautiful competition standard, which truly showed in her performance on the platform.
Congratulations Katie!
AUGUST
Sunday 3rd August, Lauren took on the Sky tower Step up challenge.
This event helps raise funds for the Leukaemia foundation and involves participants climbing up the 1103 steps!
This was Lauren's second time completing this event. But this year she decided to take it on with a 25kg weight vest strapped to her!
In the lead up to this event Lauren trained with me to improve her leg strength and overall fitness conditioning.
Lauren successfully completed the challenge in 22minutes!
Just incredible.
Massive congratulations Lauren!

30th August was Barbell Confidence.
A 6hr hands on workshop for both Women & Men.
We had a great day, with the attendees learning the foundations to Barbell Squat, Bench and Deadlift.
Leaving with a better understanding on how stability expresses strength.
It was so awesome to see everyone's confidence grow over the day. Some hitting some new personal bests, pushing outside their comfort zones and realising they are stronger than they think!
SEPTEMBER
September saw Amanda, her husband Mike and I fly down to Invercargill for the NZPF Open Nationals.
Amanda had the goal of qualifying for Nationals since late last year. So, she spent this year working hard to hit the qualifying total, which she successfully did in July.
She had a relatively quick turnaround between competitions, so training ramped up fast. But she tackled it head on and committed herself to showing each day.
Amanda went 7/9 successfully hitting PB's on her Squat 160kg and Deadlift 182.5kg and ended with a total PB as well of 422.5kg. Incredible for her first National, where she faced a fast-paced day with only 7 lifters in the flight and a very efficient spot/load team the time between attempts was QUICK.
Her work ethic this year has allowed her to grow immensely as an athlete and I cannot wait to see what 2026 brings for her!
Congratulations Amanda for continuously displaying the strongest version of yourself!

OCTOBER

Congratulations to my online client, Clare. Over the weekend Clare ran 24km in the Taupo Ultramarathon! Clare finished with a time of 3h46, this is the longest distance to date she has conquered.
We have been working hard on building her knee and ankle stability and overall leg strength in preparation for this run, and all the hard work paid off. Clare felt strong and was able to hold a good speed up all the hills. The following day she was surprised to not feel like she had been hit by a bus.
This shows the importance of Strength training for many sports. It should be the foundation to any fitness program.
Well done Clare, what's next?!
